Again, I commend you for taking on the loons in such a patient, and thorough way, my friend.

I tend to prefer the shorthand- Shut the F up, you're a GD moron.

I was happy to see many of the participants in the discussion were taking him to task over his numerous assumptions, and leaps of illogic.

Dear Reasic,
Thanks for helping to get to the bottom of this.
I tried to read Fleckenstein's blog and the colors and layout make it almost unusable. It seems that he is the source of much misinformation that I have been bombarded with. ("mandatory end of life counseling")

Rick, I'm not sure I understand your question. Are you talking about whether someone who is currently covered by an employer-provided plan, which does not meet the government's minimum standards, and whether they could pay for a COBRA plan if they lose their job?

I haven't seen anything to say that they could not, but they would definitely be able to obtain coverage through the insurance exchange.

You've provided a great public service that deserves wide distribution.
The lies, disruptions, and misinformation are really maddening.

For "grandfathered" plans some fear that leaving the company means they can't be insured. Please explain that "granfathered" plans can be kept even tho they do not meet the new standards. Even minors can be allowed to join grandfathered plans when the minor comes of age.

How on earth can people be using this "analysis" as the basis of their argument against health care reform? From what I can tell, this guy has no training or background that would make him an authority on this stuff. Plus, his arguments seem to consist of "Hello" (in that annoying valley-girl intonation, no doubt) and "Cn U SAY" more than they consist of substance.

I guess have credentials or an informed stance smacks of "elitism".

There is no point in trying to have a rational discussion with Peter. In general, he has no backup for what he asserts, just an ideological bias in reading the bill. I wasted my time in trying to discuss it with him, after doing a point by point rebuttal to a chain email, that was virtually identical to his tweets.

Your responses are very helpful. Thanks for taking the time.

Obama's folks are going to put up a website soon that will also tackle some of the misinformation out there. I hope they get Peter's particular source in their view.

Thanks!

Okay, Fleckman, you've piqued my interest. I did some digging, and found your approved list of tweets:

http://blog.flecksoflife.com/2009/07/19/the-hc-monstrosity/

Correct me if I'm wrong, but these look exactly the same as the list I've debunked here. There are some missing, but those that are here are no different than your tweets. Could you explain for me how these have been "manipulated, detracted from, and completely changed"?

Oh, and I checked the link at the bottom of the post that you recommended, and I didn't find it particularly convincing. In many cases, you've had to add your own assumptions about how certain tasks will be accomplished in order to make your points. For instance, on page 29, you claimed that they only way government can cap out-of-pocket expenses is to ration services. This is blatantly false.

Please get your facts straight. The only thing I've had wrong here is your name. These tweets are yours, and your analysis is bunk.
